New production site

Halmek Lithium has chosen Metso Outotec’s patented soda leaching process for production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide at the new plant in Uzlovaya SEZ. The greenfield plant will use spodumene concentrate as raw material, capable to convert any grades of spodumene to battery-quality lithium hydroxide. In addition to the pilot tests Metso Outotec has completed the design of the plant, and it is also contracted to provide the engineering and essential equipment for the lithium hydroxide process, the basis of which will be the Metso Outotec OKTOP® Autoclave Plant.

The combination of Metso Outotec’s scientific and technical potential and HALMEK LITHIUM’s manufacturing expertise will enable the construction of the world’s first plant with Metso Outotec’s soda leaching technology. This collaboration will lead to a substantial boost in the production of high-quality battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate suitable for use in electric vehicles.

Currently Halmek Lithium has the lithium hydroxide production plant in the Tula region. This plant is capable of producing high-quality lithium hydroxide from lithium carbonate, ensuring that the final product meets the strictest industry standards. Additionally, the company will benefit from a nearby production facility that will help in the production process, further increasing the production capacity.
